Fergus Wheeler has over 17 years experience with the Feldenkrais Method and teaches mainly on the Kapiti Coast and Horowhenua. He runs occasional workshops in the Taupo region. In his one-to-one work Fergus has worked with a ride range of people - from young children through to people in their 90's. In 2016 Fergus toured internationally renowned Parkinson's survivor John Pepper through New Zealand. John Pepper's case was publicised in the international bestseller, "The Brain's Way of Healing" by Norman Doidge. This book also happens to be about the best "short but deep" introduction to the Feldenkrais Method available. "Pepper's method, combining conscious movement and a very specific type of fast walking, may help everyone with Parkinson's, but if I had the condition, I'd say it's the best bet" says Fergus. "A combination of John Pepper's technique and "heaps" of Feldenkrais lessons has proved near miraculous for the very few people who have committed to it" he says. Fergus's class and workshop schedules is one of the busiest and varied in New Zealand, including chair classes based in retirement homes. These are open to the general public. Fergus puts an emphasis on being available to people who are at the end of the road when it comes to getting help from health professionals and ensures that people get the benefits of the Feldenkrais Method no matter their financial situation. Up until Christmas/New Year 2017 - 8, Fergus will only be working fortnightly in Kapiti and Horowhenua due to family circumstances. Please contact Fergus for details and to be put on his newsletter list for further details.
