I live in Christchurch and am currently doing a Ph.D. on the Feldenkrais Method® and spinal cord injuries. (You can find out more about Feldenkrais and spinal cord injuries on my website www.neuroplasticity.co.nz). I have worked with a number of people with spinal cord injury and have run Awareness through Movement® an classes, both privately and for the Christchurch City Council Pioneer Leisure Centre. I have worked in a range of fields including movement education, Equal Employment Opportunities, human resources, training and facilitation. What brought me to the Feldenkrais Method was severe chronic pain and loss of movement and body awareness. I tried many different techniques - alternative and conventional - but found that most of what I tried relieved symptoms only, made no difference or made me worse.
