Practice:
I live and work in Christchurch and am currently specialising in working with spinal cord injuries. I have been working with members of the New Zealand Spinal Trust and, as a result, have been invited to give regular presentations to patients in the Burwood Spinal Unit. I presented a poster on Feldenkrais and spinal cord injuries at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian & New Zealand Spinal Cord Society, November 2008.
I have run Awareness through Movement classes, both privately and for the Christchurch City Council Pioneer Leisure Centre.
Profile:
I have worked in a range of fields including movement education, Equal Employment Opportunities, human resources, information technology research, training and facilitation, and mental health.
What brought me to the Feldenkrais Method was severe chronic pain and loss of movement and body awareness. I tried many different techniques - alternative and conventional - but found that most of what I tried relieved symptoms only, made no difference or made me worse. Feldenkrais is the only intervention that has made a long term difference for me.
